Розкрито й актуалізовано значення малопоширеної, але надзвичайно актуальної праці видатного українського вченого-історика, палкого просвітителя і поборника інтересів пригнобленого імперським ладом українського народу М.Драгоманова «Народні школи на Україні серед життя і письменства в Росії» (1877). Уперше цей нарис перевидано (2003) автором цієї статті. Обґрунтовано триєдину значущість праці: важливість історико-педагогічного змісту як документального свідчення проблем і стану української початкової (народної) освіти, що фактично не існувала в ХІХ ст.; викривально-публіцистична сила наведених матеріалів, ознайомлення з якими його сучасників пробуджувало їх до відстоювання національної ідеї; прогностична спрямованість висновків ученого про кричущу нагальність питання організації української за мовою і змістом навчання школи, без якої не можливо домогтися формування в українців національної ідентичності і розвитку національної свідомості, загальмованих русифікацією. Чи не найдоцільнішим знаряддям протистояння тотальному омосковленню українського народу і шляхом до його національного відродження він вважав саме шкільну освіту як засіб реально можливого поширення національних ідей.
The meaning of the little-known but extremely relevant work of the outstanding Ukrainian scholar-historian, ardent educator and champion of the interests of the Ukrainian people oppressed by the imperial system M. Dragomanov "People's schools in Ukraine amid life and writing in Russia" (1877) is revealed and updated. This essay was first republished (2003) by the author of this article. The triple significance of the work is substantiated: the importance of the historical-pedagogical content as a documentary evidence of the problems and state of Ukrainian primary (folk) education, which actually did not exist in the 19th century; the revealing and journalistic power of the cited materials, familiarization with which his contemporaries awakened them to the defense of the national idea; the prognostic orientation of the scientist's conclusions about the glaring urgency of the issue of the organization of Ukrainian by language and the content of school education, without which it is impossible to achieve the formation of Ukrainians' national identity and the development of national consciousness, inhibited by Russification. He considered school education to be the most expedient means of resisting the total osmosis of the Ukrainian people and the way to its national revival, as a means of a realistically possible spread of national ideas. |
