In this paper was proposed a method of analytical definition of values of start and exit angles in ball end milling of inclined surfaces. Varying of these angles is regarded as function of tool radius, lead angle (angle of inclination of machining surface), radial depth of cut and stepover. Separately values of start and exit angles are defining for upward and downward machining. The angle of contact between tooth of mill and part which characterizes contact patch has direct influence on dynamic stability of cutting process. This influence consists in different phase shift of oscillatory motion of the system for different values of the contact angle. Thus, in accordance with proposed equations for smaller values of radial depth of cut and for bigger values of lead angle the contact angle (difference between start and exit angles) will have smaller values. It means that during the cutting process tooth of mill will be in the cutting process for a shorter time and it will do free movement for a longer time. It is possible to make a supposition that vibrations will be self-exciting in a less degree because of acting of the natural damping. |
