Problem of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) detection is connected with its low electromagnetic and acoustical signatures. Combined processing of information coming on different physical channels is perspective direction of solving this problem. Radar and acoustic signals are modulated by the rotating frequency of UAV?s rotor (crankshaft) and we have possibility for joint processing of these signals. The goal of our research is to develop method of UAV detection based on the analysis of its acoustic and micro-Doppler signatures. For the detection of UAV?s acoustic emission on the maximal distance the harmonic analysis of received signals is necessary. For this purpose two channel correlation detection scheme was developed. This scheme uses signals modulated according to micro-Doppler effect as heterodyne. Acoustic signal may be represented as a sum of sinusoids with unknown frequency and unknown initial phase while micro-Doppler signatures have coherent structure. That?s why we must apply quadrature processing. Noise in acoustic and radar channels is uncorrelated due to its stochastic nature. This gives opportunity to detect hovering UAVs in clutter and in presence of other acoustic signals. |
