Перше знайомство з процесом компіляції відбувається при вивченні основ програмування в старших класах середньої школи, тому в процесі співбесіди з шкільного курсу інформатики абітурієнти, як правило, досить чітко означають поняття компілятора (транслятора) мови програмування, процесу компіляції, інтегрованого середовища програмування тощо.
